What’s the difference between AS9100, ISO 9001 and NADCAP?

ISO SGS 9001

ISO 9001 is a widely recognized international standard for quality management systems (QMS) applicable to any organization, regardless of industry or size. ISO 9001 sets out the criteria for a QMS and focuses on ensuring that a company consistently delivers products or services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

AS9100 encompasses not just the ISO 9001 criteria, but also identifies additional requirements tailored to the aviation, space and defense industries.

Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is not a standard like AS9100 or ISO 9001. It is a global cooperative accreditation program for aerospace and defense suppliers. Nadcap provides a standardized approach to assessing and accrediting suppliers' capabilities, quality systems, and manufacturing and special processes. Nadcap accreditation demonstrates a supplier's compliance with industry-specific quality standards and helps ensure consistency and reliability in aerospace and defense supply chains.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Logo

ITAR Registered

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of US government regulations controlling the export and import of defense-related articles, services, and technical data. ITAR aims to safeguard national security and prevent the proliferation of sensitive military technologies by regulating their transfer to foreign entities or nationals.

Small Business Administration – Central Contractor Registration (CCR) or SAM Registration – Cage # 6R1X1

The Small Business Administration's Central Contractor Registration (CCR), now part of the System for Award Management (SAM) Registration, assigns a Cage Code, like "6R1X1," to identify entities doing business with the U.S. government. This registration is crucial for contractors seeking federal contracts, grants, or assistance, streamlining procurement processes and ensuring compliance with regulations.
